Dear Parents and Students,

We invite you to attend the VIS Honors Program Information Session. The Honors Program seeks to cultivate students’ academic rigor, global preparedness, and problem solving skills. 

The core faculty of the VIS Honors Program are Professor Jui-Chung Allen Li, former standing faculty at New York University Abu Dhabi, and Professor Pei-Yu Tsai, who has taught at Harvard University (recipient of the Levenson Teaching Award) and California Institute of Technology. 

The Honors Curriculum includes Honors Homeroom, Honors Analysis & Expression (borrowed from NYUAD), Honors Mathematical Thinking/Modeling, Honors Classics in Arts and Sciences, and the VIS signature Honors Problem Based Learning (PBL, similar in design to Independent Reading and Research for advanced undergraduates and graduate students). All courses are reading extensive and writing intensive, discussion based, requiring frequent oral presentations, and conducted as a seminar to facilitate the development of critical thinking and research skills.

The course contents cover a diverse spectrum of knowledge and are interdisciplinary in nature. Students not only learn from the professors but also from each other. Current students’ interests range from biomedical sciences, health care & public health, mathematics & computational sciences, economics, business, investment, journalism & mass communication, environmental sciences, physics, engineering, neuroscience, psychology, sociology, history, and art.

This program is built for students from Grade 9 to 12 (and select ultragifted younger students), who are committed to the pursuit of excellence, ingenuity, and integrity. We expect students to challenge themselves, push the boundaries, and build the inner strengths for future leaders.

VIS 誠摯邀請您出席 Honors Program 課程說明會。VIS Honors Program 由前紐約大學阿布達比分校的李瑞中教授及曾任教於哈佛大學（Levenson 教學獎得主）及加州理工學院的蔡沛羽教授開授主要核心課程，旨在培養治學嚴謹、具備全球視野與解決問題能力的未來領導人才。

Honors Program 課程內容涵蓋 Honors Homeroom, Honors Analysis & Expression（借自紐約大學阿布達比分校的同名課程）, Honors Mathematical Thinking/Modeling, Honors Classics in Arts and Sciences，以及 VIS 的特色課程 Honors Problem Based Learning（PBL，其課程設計類似大學高年級及研究生的「獨立研究」）。以上課程均要求大量閱讀、密集寫作，並以課堂討論、口頭報告的方式進行，以利培養同學的批判性思考與研究能力。

Honors Program的課程內容多元且跨學科，學生不僅從教授身上汲取知識，亦在彼此切磋中共同成長，同學們的興趣涵蓋生物、醫療照護與公共衛生、數學與資訊科學、經濟學、商業、投資、新聞與大眾傳播、環境科學、物理、工程、神經科學、心理學、社會學、歷史及藝術等領域。

VIS Honors Program 招收美國學制的高中生（9–12年級及特殊資賦優異的跳級生）混齡上課，我們期待申請的同學對知識充滿好奇，立志追求卓越創新，並講求誠信與品格，勇於挑戰自我、突破極限，準備好來發展作為未來領導人才的內在特質。
