The recent Chinese class focused on the theme of travel literature. The teacher guided students to appreciate different cultures through reading literary works. During the discussion of the works of the author Sanmao during her time in the Sahara Desert, the teacher combined an introduction to the geographical environment of the area and unexpected natural phenomena (such as quicksand) to bring students closer to the text. The students were also encouraged to be creative, using randomly drawn tools in class to adapt the text, and finally perform a short play in groups.

Before the performance, the students decided on the stage area and audience area according to the group's needs, and discussed with the teacher how to modify the deficiencies in the script. Even with ample preparation, the students were still very nervous. In the end, they took to the stage to perform under each other's tacit understanding and encouragement, showing a different side to the teachers.
