VIS 藝術展雖已於上週圓滿落幕，但每件作品背後的想法與故事，仍值得我們細細品味。今天，就讓我們走近展場，看看學生 Ashley Ho 所帶來的作品。
今年的藝術展中，Ashley 一共展出 11 件作品，是本屆展覽中作品數量最多的學生。除了其中一件作品，其餘作品皆反覆以「眼球」作為核心視覺元素，從不同角度延伸出對貪婪、感知、自由、身分認同與心理狀態的思考。
以下帶大家認識 Ashley 系列作品中的幾件代表作：

老虎與狼的嘴裡各藏著一顆醒目的眼球，作品以動物所象徵的力量與權勢，對照人對財富與利益的無盡追逐。
眼睛彷彿象徵著人一旦被慾望蒙蔽，便可能反過來成為慾望的囚徒；動物所代表的力量，也可能在貪婪面前失去自主。作品中的閃耀元素與鑽石般的牙齒，更將對財富的貪得無厭具象化，引人反思：究竟是什麼在驅使我們做出每一個選擇？
THE STILL LIFE THAT WATCHES (SUNFLOWER)
Ashley 從 Vincent van Gogh 的《向日葵》汲取靈感，將原本明亮、熟悉的靜物畫轉化為一幅令人既熟悉又隱隱不安的作品。
當向日葵也長出了眼睛，觀看者與被觀看者的界線開始變得模糊——如果我們一直注視著世界，世界是否也正在注視著我們？
鮮明的色彩延續 Van Gogh 作品的溫暖與生命力，花朵上的眼睛卻增添一絲詭譎氣息，使這幅熟悉的靜物畫多了一層耐人尋味的觀看關係。

這兩幅作品是本次展覽中尺寸最大的作品，以幻想交織現實，對照「自由」與「限制」兩種截然不同的狀態。
Drifting Freedom (Fish) 呈現流動、移動與自由；Trapped Within (Eyes) 則營造受控制與遭禁錮的感受。兩件作品一動一靜、相互映照，引導觀者不只停留於表象，而是從不同視角出發，看見作品背後更深一層的意義。

Parallel States II
同一個形體，只要稍微改變形狀或觀看角度，便可能呈現截然不同的樣貌。Ashley 在這個系列中，以極為細微的變化，描繪不同的情緒與心理狀態。
作品看似簡約，卻讓人不禁思考：我們眼中的自己，真的始終如一嗎？
身分認同與感知其實瞬息萬變，即使差異細微到幾乎難以察覺，也可能代表截然不同的內在狀態。
一個眼睛，可以有多少種解讀？
Ashley 的作品證明，單一視覺符號也能蘊含多重意義。在她的作品中，「眼睛」是反覆出現的圖像，寓意一扇觀看世界的窗口。它讓我們思考自己如何看待世界、如何讓他人看見，以及我們對世界的理解，又是如何一步步形塑我們對自己的認識。
The VIS Art Fair officially came to a close last week, but the ideas and stories behind the artworks continue to stay with us. Let's take a closer look at some of the works presented throughout the exhibition.
The largest collections at this year's Art Fair came from VIS Junior High student Ashley Ho, who presented an impressive 11 works. With the exception of one piece, the collection features the eyeball as a recurring motif, which explores themes of greed, perception, freedom, identity, and psychological states.
Here are a few highlights from Ashley's collection:
SIGHT OF GREED: TIGER
SIGHT OF GREED: WOLF
Featuring an eyeball inside the animal's mouth, these works explore the idea of greed and the pursuit of personal gain. The eye represents how people can become consumed by what they want, while the animals suggest strength and power that can ultimately be controlled by greed. Sparkling elements and diamond-like teeth further emphasize an insatiable hunger for wealth, inviting viewers to reflect on what truly drives their actions.
THE STILL LIFE THAT WATCHES (SUNFLOWER)
Inspired by Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers, Ashley transforms a familiar and cheerful still life into something slightly unsettling. By adding eyes to the flowers, the painting asks viewers to reconsider the relationship between the observer and the observed: what if the things we look at are also watching us? The vibrant colors retain the warmth of Van Gogh's work while introducing an eerie sense of awareness.

These two paintings are the largest works in the exhibition, using fantasy and reality to explore contrasting states of freedom and restriction. One suggests movement and freedom, while the other conveys control and confinement. Together, the works encourage viewers to look beyond surface appearances and consider how different perspectives can reveal deeper meanings.

Parallel States II
This series explores how a single form can change through subtle shifts in shape and perspective. Although the paintings may initially appear simple, each variation represents a different emotional or psychological state. The works invite us to consider how identity and perception are constantly changing, even when the differences may seem almost invisible.
Through her collection, Ashley demonstrates how a single visual motif can take on many different meanings. The recurring eye becomes a way to explore how we see the world, how we are seen by others, and how our perceptions shape the way we understand ourselves.
