Before we look back at our PBL Exhibition, let's first take a closer look at how our Grade 6 students developed their projects step by step, transforming what they learned in the classroom into meaningful action in the real world.
This year, the Grade 6 PBL theme was Building Digital Literacy. Students focused on important topics such as online etiquette, cyberbullying, and digital safety. Digital literacy involves developing critical thinking, empathy, and a strong sense of digital citizenship. These essential skills empower students to make informed and responsible decisions in today's digital world.
At the end of May, students visited the Zhongzheng Elderly Service and Day Care Center, where they worked in teams to share their knowledge with senior participants. Their presentations covered topics including the definition of cyberbullying, how to respond when encountering online harassment, and the importance of practicing good digital etiquette in everyday life. From conducting research and designing teaching materials to delivering their presentations, students transformed abstract concepts into clear, engaging lessons, demonstrating both strong communication skills and a genuine sense of social responsibility.
Beyond the presentations, students also designed interactive games and scenario-based activities that encouraged participants to think critically about how to recognize and respond to different online situations. These hands-on activities made the learning experience more engaging while reinforcing essential concepts of digital safety.
Through this PBL project, students developed the ability to solve real-world problems, care for their communities, and create meaningful social impact. This intergenerational exchange strengthened their communication and collaboration skills, while also helped them realize that the true value of knowledge lies in sharing, and that education has the power to benefit an entire community.
