Our PBL Exhibition recap continues with Grade 8A!

This semester, Grade 8A explored Cementing the Future, an interdisciplinary PBL project connected to SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. Students challenged themselves to answer a central question: How can we use scientific principles to redesign spaces for a better future?

The journey began with "Me Space," where students redesigned their own bedrooms by applying design thinking, spatial planning, and even principles of Feng Shui. Along the way, they learned how to develop driving questions, create logical diagrams, and communicate their ideas through mood boards.

Next came "We Space," where students worked collaboratively to redesign their classrooms. Using Floorplanner, they transformed their ideas into detailed 3D models while learning to work more independently, apply automation concepts, and solve real design challenges as a team.

For their final exhibition project, students expanded their thinking beyond the classroom by redesigning public spaces. After conducting surveys, researching user needs, and sourcing materials, each group built functional models that demonstrated how automation and sustainable design can improve everyday environments.

Through Cementing the Future, Grade 8A students combined science, engineering, design, and technology to create practical solutions for real-world challenges. Their projects demonstrated that innovative thinking and collaboration can transform the spaces we use every day into places that are more sustainable, inclusive, and accessible for everyone.
