During the Dragon Boat Festival, I attended the DIA Global Annual Meeting at Philadelphia. The DIA Global Annual meeting gathers engineers, doctors, professors, and all kinds of other industry professionals to discuss and share the newest technologies and discoveries related to medicine.
Throughout the 5 day conference, I learned about how AI and machine learning are being integrated into clinical trial ecosystems; I learned about the advancements in cell and gene therapy; and I learned about how leadership across drug companies, government, and hospitals collaborate to tackle drug regulatory challenges. More importantly, I connected and talked to professionals all across the world, offering me a brand new perspective on how different kinds of expertise contribute to the medical world.
In the midst of all the booths and poster presentations, I found the Taiwan Town Hall. In the Taiwan Town Hall, Dr. Chih-Kang Chiang, the director general of Taiwan FDA, guided a discussion on how Taiwan and other countries promoted medicine supply resilience. Prof. Wu of TFDA, Prof. Liberti of USC, Prof. Eberts of University of Delaware and Mr. Tamae of Meiji Seika Parma., taught me how each US, Japan, and Taiwan responded to medicine supply shortage and how resilience is promoted. More importantly, I am inspired by how varying expertise and professionals together contribute to a global challenge.
This conference offered me a brand new vision to different career outlooks all related to medicine, meanwhile I connected and learned from industry professionals all across the world. These knowledge and perspectives will help me as I continue my journey applying to university as a bio-related major.
