On Tuesday, the Honors Program students welcomed their first guest speaker of the semester, Professor Kung-Bin Sung from the Electrical Engineering Department of National Taiwan University. The title of the talk was “More than just seeing with light – measuring physiological parameters in vivo”. During the talk, Professor Sung first went over the foundations of light, and how it could be seen as both a wave and a particle. The professor also brought in an oximeter to explain how light could be used to measure the oxygen level of blood in our bodies. He then proceeded to talk about the future of wearable smart technology.

The students actively participated, asking questions and sharing insights. Even the students that thought they were only interested in the Social Sciences found the talk super interesting and insightful. What a great start to the speaker series!
