VIS thrives by letting our students learn through doing. This week, a group of three students led our teachers on a walking tour to discover Taipei City. Each stop showcased a historical site tied to the period of Japanese rule and incorporated engaging technology and art to educate the attendees.

The tour started at the Taipei North Gate, where students used a QR code to show how the city looked when Japan first came into Taipei and the different gates around the city. From there, we were led to the Futai Street Mansion to see different pieces of the culture and daily life during these times.

Zhongshan Hall followed next, exhibiting beautiful architecture, art exhibits, a diverse decor, and an important meeting place. Finally, students led the tour to the National Taiwan Museum at Peace Memorial Park. They led an important discussion on the past of the park and the importance of diversity and acceptance of differing cultures.
