Realizing John Dewey's Dream: Educating the Whole Child through Student-Centric Learning

John Dewey's "Democracy and Education: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Education" is a seminal educational work. The first four chapters of this book lay out the foundational ideas for Dewey's philosophy of education. This presentation will focus on these chapters and explore the key themes, such as the role of education in social integration, the relationship between social environment and education, and the importance of formal education in shaping individuals. Additionally, Dewey's vision for ideal education, which emphasizes direction and control, and education as a means for personal growth, will be discussed.

Pursuing Security in Anarchy: John Mearsheimer's Theory of Offensive Realism

In his book "The Tragedy of Great Power Politics," John Mearsheimer's theory of offensive realism argues that nations seek to survive and gain absolute power in an anarchic system where war, counter-back, and passing the buck are common strategies. This presentation will cover the key aspects of offensive realism, including basic theory, the classification of the global playground, and the potential impact of China's rising power on global security.
