Continuing our Academic Presentation series, Mr. Clement Chan - Founder of Columbia International College (CIC), our Canadian partner school, and Mr. Ken Withers - Director of University Student Recruitment from the University of Toronto, one of the top universities globally, delivered an inspiring talk to VIS students, staff, and teachers.
In his presentation, Mr. Withers emphasized the importance of developing soft skills such as responsibility, dedication, communication, and teamwork. He highlighted that these essential skills cannot be acquired solely through textbooks. CIC plays a crucial role in supporting students by helping them build leadership abilities and acquire other soft skills, which are vital stepping stones for entering the University of Toronto (U of T). At U of T, teachers dedicate their time to research, generating academic outputs, and writing textbooks, providing students with a clear vision of whether they wish to pursue an academic career. U of T boasts the highest number of international students in North America and is structured into various colleges specializing in different subjects and research areas.
Fun fact: This was Mr. Withers’ third time visiting VIS! He always enjoys his time here with VIS students and staff. U of T’s visit to Taipei for VIS is a unique opportunity.
Stay tuned for more insights in Part III!
